Our friends from Women of Influence are kicking off their Evening Series with Marci Ien. Marci Ien will reveal the insider story of how she has successfully navigated the art of change throughout her remarkable career in the media.

Who is Marci Ien? In recent months you’ve seen Marci on The Social, a fun and fresh daytime talk series airing daily on CTV. Along with her accomplished co-hosts, including Lainey Lui, Melissa Grelo, and Cynthia Loyst, Marci has the enviable task of dishing on all the latest news, pop-culture and lifestyle trends that matter most to Canadians.

But Marci’s career started two decades earlier, after graduating from the Radio and Television program at Ryerson University and landing a reporter gig at CHCH-TV in Hamilton. Her next move was to CTV news, earning national spotlight with her award-winning reporting on the most influential stories of the decade. In 2003 Marci landed the coveted role of news anchor on Canada AM, the longest running and most-watched TV morning show in the country. After an eight-year run (during which she gave birth to her first child), Marci was appointed to Co-Host and held the position for five years (where she became a mother for a second time). Her thirteen-year tenure with Canada AM helped elevate the program to its legacy status and earned her countless accolades and award nominations.

And then in June 2016, Canada AM announced it would air its last episode after 43 seasons. Media headlines declared it a ‘major shake-up in Canadian TV’ and while audiences wondered what was next, Marci Ien was getting to work designing the next phase of her evolving career.

In a candid keynote address, Marci will share key lessons learned along her professional journey and how they too can help you navigate transition on your journey to advancement, including:

  • Know your worth – How to rise above naysayers
  • Face discomfort head-on – How to focus on opportunity
  • Find your passion - Tap into what you truly want to do and go for it
  • Leverage your network – The importance of cultivating connections
  • Channel your influence – Take action to create a positive impact on others
